The 18th December arrived for our Kids Carol Service, and the excitement was already evident at 10:30am. The kids were so excited to perform their nativity play. Since October they have worked hard week by week to practice songs for the Carolcade and the nativity play.

Before the afternoon carol service, we enjoyed a lovely roast dinner that was made by Julia and her team. Many thanks go to them for a delicious meal.

After dinner, the children put on their costumes and sat in anticipation at the front of the hall to wait for their nativity play to begin. Many people arrived to experience the carol service. It was lovely to have so many children and their families share in our carol service.

The youth gospel choir (who practice and meet every Saturday in the back hall of our church) entertained us with their beautiful voices, and we look forward to hearing them again in the near future.

The three wise men seemed to have got lost this year (!), however their camels had arrived ok and what a fantastic mimic of "We three kings" they provided which brought much amusement to the carol service. Thank you to all the puppeteers for their ongoing support in worship.

It was then time for the nativity play, which was entitled ‘It’s A Baby!’ to be delivered. The innkeeper did a fantastic job in portraying a grumpy innkeeper (despite there being a bit of unexpected ad lib!). Our young narrators learnt their lines exceptionally well and spoke so clearly and beautifully. Joseph and Mary helped us reflect on baby Jesus by singing a sweet lullaby and we had an angel dance by one angel after every song which gave the audience something to smile at (the beauty of which was the stomp of the feet that coincided in time with the last beat of the music). Thanks also to our young musician who added to the backing with her very own imitation of appropriate sounds, using various percussion instruments and the keyboard.

After all of that the nativity cast came together and sang "The Worship Song", where we were reminded that:

The Wisemen offer their gifts to Him,
The Shepherds offer their love for Him,
The choir of Angels rejoice in Him,
Lets join together to worship Him,
Jesus Christ King of Kings.

Thank you to all the children for all their hard work over the last three months. Also to all my team who have helped to make the carol service a great success and for their ongoing support.

We look forward to the next three months where we are exploring Ephesians 6 and the armour of God. Exciting times ahead for Kids Church.
